The JL LAGRANGE laboratory is a joint research unit (UMR 7293) depending on three agencies: the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), Observatoire de la Côte d’Azur (OCA) and the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis (UNS). Staff and material resources are currently spread over three sites: Nice Mont Gros, Nice Valrose and Calern.Le laboratory JL Lagrange was born of the merger that took place on 1 January 2012 between the Fizeau Laboratory (UMR 6525) and CASSIOPEE Laboratory (UMR 6202).
The JL LAGRANGE laboratory aims to develop multidisciplinary research activities in the field of astrophysics, mechanical and processing of signals and images as well as a major effort to offer courses related to these themes. Thematic teams revolve around the formation and evolution of planetary systems: physical and dynamic properties, observations and characterization (PLANETOLOGIE), solar and stellar physics: internal structure, atmosphere and environment, study the physical processes implemented and radiative transfer (STELLAR), the physics of galaxies and cosmology: large structures, formation and evolution of galaxies, galactic archeology) (GALAXIES), signal processing and image inverse problems, reconstruction, estimation, deconvolution, optimal representation data (TDSI) and finally the non-linear dynamics: turbulence in fluids and plasmas, transport processes (FLUID). This research is supported and enabled by unique skills, organized transverse group in physical methods of "observation (Differential Interferometry, advanced imaging interferometry and high dynamic concepts, atmospheric optics) and high performance numerical computing (HPC performance, massive parallelism, 3D visualization).
The LAGRANGE laboratory also participates actively in the University for the first year degree to PhD and astrophysics specialty is provided in master.
